Why should you support Maryland Hillel?

Maryland Hillel’s mission is to enhance the lives of Jewish students on campus in order to enable them to enrich the Jewish people and the world around them. Maryland Hillel actively seeks to engage Jewish students on their own terms: to provide them with Jewish opportunities that are meaningful and appealing to them.

Students are empowered to take responsibility for their Jewish identity through community service, social events, and both formal and informal Jewish learning. We take pride in welcoming all students, regardless of Jewish background.

One major focus at Maryland Hillel is our weekly Shabbat gatherings. Our Shabbat program is our strongest, most attended student program, averaging 300 students each week. The Shabbat experience has a way of connecting Jewish students on campus, offering a sense of community; expression of Jewish values; and an outlet for independent, interactive exploration of Jewish practice across a diverse, vibrant spectrum. Annually, our Shabbat expenses alone are over $100,000. To help support this program, keep it free for all students, generous parents, alumni, community supporters, and organizations make all the difference!
