Holiday Exemption Letter

According to UMD policy, “Students shall not be penalized because of observances of their religious holidays and shall be given an opportunity, whenever feasible, to make up within a reasonable time any academic assignment that is missed due to individual participation in religious observances.” It is the student’s responsibility to inform professors of any intended absences for religious observances in advance.

Please use this form to request an exemption letter from Maryland Hillel for the holidays. You will be emailed the exemption letter by Rabbi Josh Lehman. Printed versions are available upon request.

  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
  • Your exemption letter will be sent to this address. Please check your spam as the letters sometimes are sent there.
  • Please only list classes that fall during the actual holiday. While professors are not required to accommodate travel time they often do, I suggest speaking to them and I can also make a request of it in the letter. If travel time is an issue, email Rav Josh Lehman at jlehman@marylandhillel.org.
