Religious School Teachers Needed

Position Judaic and Hebrew Teachers for K-7 grade

Congregation B’nai Shalom of Olney, a Conservative congregation in Olney, MD is seeking to hire the following part-time teaching positions for the 2024-25 school year beginning at the end of August:
Sundays from 9:00 am – 11:30 am:
Judaic’s Teachers K-7 Grade
Hebrew Teachers for 3-6 Grade Tuesdays/Wednesdays from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

We are looking for engaging teachers who love teaching Hebrew & Judaic and are great team players. Our Hebrew classes require Hebrew knowledge, as well as knowledge of T’fillah.

JOB EXPECTATIONS
• Fulfilling all teaching duties.
• Following the curriculum.
• Planning for lessons and preparing all materials prior to class.
• Assisting in the planning and implementation of grade-level Family Education programs.
• Meeting with or calling students or parents as necessary before or after class sessions.
• Respond promptly to parent phone calls and/or e-mails.
• Keeping accurate attendance records and contacting parents when students are absent.
• Actively participating in teacher training sessions as required.
• Submitting two emergency sub plans for each class taught.
• Attending programs that involve their grade level(s) such as Family Shabbat services, Family Education programs, special activities, and inter-school programs.
• Communicating curriculum, class, and school/congregational activities with all parents by email weekly.
• Attending Teacher Orientation to be scheduled in August 2024

QUALIFICATIONS
• A love of working with kids!
• Passion for Judaism and Jewish education.
• Knowledge of Jewish traditions and values, as well as the willingness to learn and grow.
• Teaching experience preferred.

COMPENSATION
This is a part-time position with a starting salary range of $25 per hour, depending on experience and qualification. You are also paid for some planning time and any extra time you are asked to work, including meetings, training, and other in-service sessions.
