Frequently cited statistics show that historical biases in hiring lead to less applications from women and underrepresented groups unless they have 100% of the qualifications. GatherDC is committed to removing bias in hiring; as such, we encourage you to break that statistic and apply. No one ever meets 100% of the qualifications! We look forward to your application.

WHO WE ARE
GatherDC is a Jewish nonprofit organization that serves as the one-stop-shop for everything 20s and 30s need to live their best Jewish life in the DMV. Whether young Jewish adults come to Gather looking for Jewish events, friends, synagogues, housing, jobs, rabbis, kosher food, or anything in between—we connect them to everything they need to find their people and place in Jewish DMV. Our work strengthens the fabric of Jewish life throughout the DMV, contributing to a thriving Jewish ecosystem and helping to create one of the most dynamic and inclusive cities for millennial and Gen Z Jewish life.

WHO YOU ARE
The GatherDC Education Intern will report directly to GatherDC’s Community Rabbi and will support GatherDC’s IRL and online educational experiences this summer. As a member of our Engagement Team, you will immerse yourself in Gather’s relational engagement methodology and educational vision and work closely with GatherDC’s Community Rabbi bringing several signature immersive GatherDC experiences to life, deepen existing and novel educational offerings through curriculum co-creating and workshopping, and bringing your perspective and unique voice to Gather’s educational offerings and vision as we continue articulating what it means to host, create, and expand relevant, active, and meaningful Jewish experiences.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Support the GatherDC Community Rabbi and Engagement Team in executing several signature GatherDC immersive experiences, including the Beyond the Tent retreat in June and preparing for GatherDC’s High Holiday offerings this fall.
Assist in developing new content and co-creating/deepening curricula for Gather High Holidays including our signature Alternative Yom Kippur and High Holiday Deep Dives (with opportunity to facilitate pending autumn availability and experience).
Aggregate and analyze post-experience participant feedback and implement transformations for future educational Gather experiences.
Work with the communications team to explore and support regular education-focused online content.
Assist with research, codification, and ongoing implementation of Gather’s Relevant, Active, and Meaningful (RAM) education methodology in partnership with GatherDC Community Rabbi.
Update blog content and write blog posts about your internship experience.
Other duties as assigned by the GatherDC Community Rabbi.
Note: This is not a rabbinical internship! We are seeking candidates who are interested in a career in Jewish education, Jewish non-profits, and/or spiritually-oriented work, and encourage candidates who are just starting to explore a potential career path in these areas to apply.

Gather is committed to providing a meaningful and educational internship experience. While the above are considered the essential functions of this role, we are excited to work with our intern to ensure this is a professionally enriching internship experience.

PLEASE APPLY IF
You are passionate about the value-add of a relevant, active, and meaningful Judaism, and are excited to get creative and push the boundaries of what that can look like.
You feel comfortable and excited about working with Jewish texts and ideas around holidays, culture, and the diversity of Jewish life and identity.
You are detail-oriented and enjoy research and writing.
You are a collaborative team-player who is excited to work on projects as a team.
You are excited to explore the DMV Jewish community and discover everything that makes it great!

COMPENSATION
$18/hour on a hybrid work schedule (10–4pm, M/W virtual, Tu/Th IRL, Fridays off).
Summer break—Gather closes up shop the week of July 4th.
The opportunity to shadow and train with experienced pluralistic rabbi and other experienced nonprofit professionals at a variety of career stages.
Practical, on-the-ground experience with Jewish community engagement, curriculum development, experience planning and organizing, writing, nonprofit communications, and more.

So you’ve made it to the bottom. Ready to apply!?
