Religious School Teacher

Temple Isaiah in Howard County is seeking two teachers for the upcoming year:

1. 4th-6th Grade Ivrit, Tefilah, and Chavurah teacher (9am-1pm). This teacher would be responsible for: Two Ivrit classes teaching basic to advanced decoding skills and melodies of payers (the two classes would be of similar level). The Tefilah class: a separate class of 5th graders learning about the meanings behind the prayers. The Chavurah class is at the end of our morning with topics determined by the teacher in conjunction with the Chavurah Coordinator. This position may be divided among two different teachers, one teaching from 9-11:15am (Ivrit only) and one teaching 11:15am-1pm (Tefilah and Chavurah).

2. 3rd Grade teacher (11:15am-1pm). Teaching 3rd grade covering the topics of basic Hebrew decoding, Jewish life cycle, and a Jewish cultural curriculum based around the key words in the Hebrew primer.

Starting pay for a undergraduate student would be $30-$35 per teaching hour depending on past experience for a grad student or alum it would be $40-50 per teaching hour (more if they have an Ed or Jewish studies degree). Reliable transportation required. Up to $250 for the year to cover transportation costs for anyone affiliated with UMD Hillel coming from PG county, DC, or from anywhere on the I-270 corridor or inside the beltway in Montgomery County.
