Dear Maryland Hillel Community,
This week, the SGA election reached heightened levels of hostility when an antisemitic image targeting a Jewish student was posted online. Hillel is providing direct support, and we are grateful to the University of Maryland Police Department for their swift investigation, and to President Pines for his clear and unambiguous condemnation of antisemitism. At a time when many in our community are also impacted by growing antisemitism in America and abroad, we recognize how deeply this moment is being felt on campus.
As we approach Passover, we are reminded of our roots in the fight for freedom and the importance of expressing our identity then and now. We remain committed to ensuring every student feels safe and supported. We encourage students to join Hillel and fellow Jewish students at seders this Wednesday and Thursday night to be in community, connect with one another, and send a message of strength and positive love against the senseless hate.
Chag Sameach,
Ari Israel Executive Director
