Hillel North is Maryland Hillel’s community for students living on North Campus and underclassmen living off campus. Shabbat dinners, social programs, and holiday events are just some of the Hillel North initiatives you can look forward to this year! We want to connect North Campus Jews with each other and with all that Maryland Hillel has to offer across campus.

To hear about the next Hillel North event and for questions, join this Facebook group for Jewish Terps in the Class of 2020 and email Jessa Cameron.

North Campus Shabbat
Every Friday night, Hillel North hosts free Shabbat dinners on North Campus! Join us for challah and an early Shabbat dinner in a relaxed atmosphere with new friends from the North Campus community. Shabbat dinners often feature a different theme (e.g. ShaBBQ, Breakfast for Dinner, and “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” Shabbat) or special program.

Hillel North Bagel Club
Looking for a snack in between classes or a fun way to start your day? Come to Hillel North Bagel Club every Tuesday morning. Stay for a little bit or stay for an hour. It’s a great opportunity to meet North Campus friends and hear about what’s happening at Maryland Hillel.

Hillel North Fellowship
If you’re a first-year student interested in creating opportunities for Jewish life on North Campus and becoming a campus leader through Maryland Hillel, learn more about becoming a Hillel North Fellow! The Fellowship runs from January–December and applications for Hillel North Fellows 2017 will open in the middle of Fall 2016 semester.

Past Hillel North Programs

Challah-Ween

In preparation for Halloween and Shabbat, we made candy-filled and delicious challah! Everyone got to braid their own dough and enjoy fresh challah!

Pumpkin Painting in the Sukkah

We celebrated Sukkot in front of the Diner at the North Campus Sukkah by painting mini-pumpkins and making decorations for the Sukkah.

“Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” Shabbat

We hosted “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” Shabbat on North Campus. Students enjoyed a festive Shabbat dinner and learned about all of the destinations they can go to with Maryland Hillel.

Shabbat “ShaBBQ” Dinner

We enjoyed an extra special Shabbat to cap off the first week of classes. We ventured to La Plata Beach for a casual, relaxed, BBQ-style Shabbat.
