Adas Israel Congregation, a Conservative synagogue in the heart of Washington, D.C. serving over 1700 families, is preparing for the 2022-2023 school year and is excited to welcome additional team members in our Religious School and Youth Department. Religious School Teachers Do you enjoy teaching children? Are you passionate about Judaism? We are looking for teachers to join our staff for the 2022-2023 school year. We have opportunities to teach from Pre - k through 12th grade. Our Religious School classes take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings and on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. If you are available to teach on any or all of these days, Adas Israel is looking for you! All resources for our curriculum will be provided by the school. Our school runs from the Sunday after Labor day through the end of May. Our pay scale starts at $35/hour, with extra hours for professional development. Service Leaders We are seeking Jewish Educators / Service leaders to lead Shabbat youth services for a variety of ages. The K-7 Alvin Browdy Religious School uses a Project-Based Learning approach to encourage students to delve deeply into important topics, to become critical thinkers and active participants within their own Jewish journeys. Leveled Hebrew instruction and regular tefilah give students the tools they need to lead services and gain competency in text study and prayer. Professional development options and planning assistance are readily available. We meet during the school year, Wednesdays 4:15pm-6:15pm and Sundays 9:00am-12:00pm. While we prefer teachers who are available on both days, a Sunday-only or Wednesday-only option is also possible. We have open positions in a variety of grades. Shaare Tefila Congregation, a vibrant Conservative congregation of approx. 240 families in Olney, MD is currently searching for a part-time Office Assistant. This person will be tasked with an array of job responsibilities, including, but not limited to: -Database, Website and Calendar Management -Newsletter Editing & Production -Inventory Management -Answering Phones and Greeting Visitors -Overseeing Paper and Electronic Mailings -Mail sorting -Event Planning This person should possess excellent organizational and inter-personal skills. Knowledge of the synagogue software ShulCloud is a plus as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher) and Constant Contact. Candidates should also have prior experience in newsletter production and editing. Synagogue experience is preferable, but not mandatory. The job will entail approximately 20 hours a week Monday-Friday. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
